The hype was worth it! In just two days of its release, Avengers Endgame had crossed Rs100 crore mark in India alone. The Hollywood superhero film grossed Rs53 crore in its opening day itself.

The Russo brothers’ directorial had another huge day at the Indian box office as it collected approximately Rs 51 crore nett plus on its second day, reports Box Office India. The report predicts that the collections of the film will bounce along over the weekend in a similar range due to the huge advance numbers already there for the film. However, it will be Monday to see how big the numbers will grow. The film is expected to earn 155-160 crore nett over the weekend.

The film boasts an elaborate star cast which includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Benedict Cumberbatch among others.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “#AvengersEndgame is rewriting record books… Puts up a HISTORIC total on Day 2… Eyes ₹ 150 cr+ weekend… No biggie from *Hindi* film industry has achieved the target so far… Fri 53.10 cr, Sat 51.40 cr. Total: ₹ 104.50 cr Nett BOC. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 124.40 cr.”

He pointed out that the film’s theatre count (2845 screens) is a fraction of what the biggest Hindi films are released in. “#AvengersEndgame shatters the myth that a massive screen count is the key to collect big numbers on Day 1/weekend… #AvengersEndgame has released in 2845 screens, but its occupancy is much, much higher than *Hindi* biggies that open in 4000+ screens,” he wrote.

The film registered the second biggest opening of all time in India, after Baahubali: The Conclusion’s Rs 121 crore debut, and just ahead of Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan, which still holds the record for the biggest single day in Hindi film history, with Rs 52.25 crore.

Endgame is headed to a record breaking $1 billion global opening weekend, with an estimated $350 million opening weekend in the US – this is almost $100 million ahead of Infinity War’s $257 million opening weekend in 2018.

The Marvel Comics superhero film also broke the record for the highest opening weekend globally of all time with $644 million at the end of Friday. The previous record holder was Infinity War with $641 million.
